It has been confirmed by the Saudi authorities that the first of Dhul Hijjah (1435) is Thu, 25-Sept-2014.

So that means (inshAllah),
Please visit my previous post here for a graphical calendar of dates above. Also a quick reminder from another previous post,
| “It is recommended for a person who has made his clear intention to offer the sacrifice to observe” certain “restrictions from the beginning of the month of Dhul Hijjah until the sacrifice is made. He is simply required not to take anything off his hair or body. Hence, the restrictions are not to cut his hair or clip his nails.” |

So how does the actuality above compare to calculations. Good question, below are the calculated phases of the moon for Mecca. Furthermore the Islamic (Hijri) date for 18-Sept-2014, was confirmed on the official Ministry of Hajj Portal to correspond to 23-(Dhul-Qa’dah)-1435. So marking this on the calendar below and if the new moon is sighted in Mecca on Wednesday 24-Sept-2014, this will make the following day, Thursday 25-Sept-2014 the first of Dhul-Hijjah, i.e. 01-(Dhul-Hijjah)-1435. Because we know the first day of Hajj is the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah so the days for Hajj will be as above.

Though there are a number of Tawaaf’s during Pilgrimage, they are all essentially performed in the same way. This post provides a step-by-step guide to performing Tawaaf.

For Umrah Tawaaf (in the ‘Tamattu’ method) or Tawaaful Qudoom (in the ‘Qiran’ or ‘Irfad’ method), the following extra conditions are required,

Note:
[a] (^) There is no particular supplication established in the Sunnah when drinking Zamzam. However, Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite the above after drinking Zamzam water.

English narrations from select books of Hadith
After the Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) is our next resource of guidance. All the major Hadith collections have sections devoted to Hajj, which provide a wealth of information. Today I wanted to share narrations from three of these collections, which provide a description of the Prophet’s (pbuh) Hajj. The following is a translation taken from Sahih Muslim. (Two further narrations from Sunan Abu Dawud and Sunan Ibn Majah are also included in the pdf document available for download at the end of this Article, along with the Arabic text). So without further adieu … The Hajj of the Prophet (pbuh),
An English Translation of Surah 22. Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage)
Can you believe it, time is just ~flying~. “Hajj is just around the corner”. InshAllah Hajj is in October this year (only about a month and a half away). So over the next few weeks The Wahy Project‘s focus is going to shift slightly – to Hajj related topics – so please stay tuned.
But to start with, in this day and age sometimes we get overwhelmed by too much information & forget that our first point of reference & guidance is the Quran, followed by the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). So the next two Posts will be on,

Note: I wasn’t able to find the above wording in the Hadith references I have access to; but am assuming reference [1] (from which I have taken the above) has access to more resources and references than I have. The wording I was able to find in the Hadith references I have access to (Sahih Muslim) is as follows,
