Anatomy of the Kabah and it’s immediate surroundings
As Muslims, we face the Kabah for all our prayers. If you haven’t had a chance to visit, have you ever thought what the Kabah looks like close up? Well, you are in luck (mashAllah) – because in today’s post let me take you all the way to the Masjid Al Haram in Makkah for a close up look at the Kabah and it’s immediate surroundings.
| A | Hajrul Aswad | The Black Stone implanted in the corner of the Kabah | B | Door | The door of the Kabah | C | Maqaam Ibraheem | The station where Prophet Ibraheem (pbuh) stood while building the Kabah. (It was moved from it’s original place, which was next to the Kabah) | D | Rukn Yamani | South corner of the Kabah (which faces Yemen) | E | Al-Hijr | It is part of the Kabah |
If we walk anti-clockwise (around the view above) we will get to the following view,
| F | Multazam | This refers to the area from the Hajrul Aswad up to the door of the Kabah. It is reported that the Companions (r) of the Prophet (pbuh) used to make Dua here | G | Water spout | This is located on the roof of the Kabah in the middle of the Hijr. It’s purpose is to allow any water on the roof to drain down. It is a new addition to the Kabah and did not exist in the time of the Prophet (pbuh) |
