Prostration of Recitation (Supplication)

Having posted a “List of Prostration Places in the Qur’an” last week, this week thought I would post a supplication for prostrating due to recitation of the Qur’an.

List of Prostration Places in the Qur’an

There are 14 (+1) places in the Qur’an where it is good practice to prostrate. I have been wanting to put together a concise list of these for quite a while. Finally got a chance, so here it is,

# Name of Surah Surah # Verse #
1 Al-A’raaf (The Heights) 7 206
2 Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder) 13 15
3 An-Nahl (The Bee) 16 50
4 Al-Israa (The Night Journey) 17 109
5 Maryam (Mary) 19 58
6 Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage) 22 18
7* Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage) 22 77
8 Al-Furqaan (The Criterion) 25 60
9 An-Naml (The Ant) 27 26
10 As-Sajda (The Prostration) 32 15
11 Saad (The letter Saad) 38 24
12 Fussilat (Explained in detail) 41 38
13 An-Najm (The Star) 53 62
14 Al-Inshiqaaq (The Splitting Open) 84 21
15 Al-Alaq (The Clot) 96 19

Note: * In all, fourteen (14) places of prostration are agreed upon by all Muslim religious scholars and Ulamā, while Imām Shāfi’ī suggests prostration at this place (22:77).
